The former Rap Star was 1/3 of SUPER HOT 90′s group Blaque. She was also a budding film star…having appeared in movies like Honey (along side Jessica Alba) and Bring It On (with Gabrielle Union). Natina was also a mother. She had a child with rapper Kurupt back in 2002. Tren Brown turns 10 this year. He’ll turn 11 without his mother.
Details surrounding Natina’s death are still vague, but we know Natina was on Lawrenceville Highway around 10:30 p.m. A driver in a Honda Accord hit Natina. When police and paramedics arrived, a bystander was performing CPR on her. Natina was pronounced dead a29 minutes later at Gwinnett Medical Center. The only witnesses to the accident were the driver of the Honda Accord and their passenger. At this time, Gwinnett Police are not charging the driver for the tragic accident. According to reports…
[The driver] “was determined to be not at fault and there are no charges pending.”–Gwinnett Police
In all truth, Natina Reed was killed on a thorofare that has a reputation for being a ‘Track’ used daily by prostitutes. So, the fact that she was hit ON a highway is suspect to say the least.
Rumors circulated the Internet back in 2007 that Natina was a crackhead prostitute, but it was later disputed by arrest records. Nevertheless, the protegé of Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes, seemed troubled. She has a number of arrests on record that we found including…
1 for Battery and Obstruction (March 2012)
1 for Battery (May 2012)
1 Felony Misdemeanor (May 2006)
There are also records of Natina being stopped for Driving Under The Influence. That aside, Natina Reed was a talent who helped shape 90′s music.
Natina formed Blaque in high-school. That is where she met group member Shamari Fears. At first Natina and Shamari were apart of 2 different groups. Fears was in a group called Intrigue and Natina formed and performed in a group called Blaque Ivory. Intrigue, which 3rd group member Brandi Williams was also a part of, was signed by Elektra Records. When all 3 girls met up at a talent show…they decided to join forces. It was then that Natina, Brandi, and Shamari became BLAQUE. A short time later, Natina was discovered singing jingles by a relative of Pop/Rap Star Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes. And the rest (as they say) is history. Lopes developed Blaque…giving them a swagger and image close to her own successful group TLC…and Blaque sailed into a 3-year long season of success with hits like 808, Bring It All To Me, and I Do. Their self-titled debut album sold over 1.5 million copies. The group disbanded in 2002. A reunion has been something the ladies have been planning for years.
Natina Reed only had a moment in the spotlight…but she made an impact. Fans will remember Natina for the talent that she was…for many years to come!

***Natina is reportedly the cousin of former Destiny’s Child group member Farrah Franklin. Also, Natina (interestingly) died close to the age and manner of her mentor Lisa Lopez. Lisa died at age 31 in a car accident in Hondouras.
