We reported days ago that Missy Elliot seemed confused whether or not she was producing tracks for the upcoming, posthumous “Aaliyah” album. And, we reported that Missy’s friend and producing buddy Timbaland felt stung that Aaliyah’s family hadn’t tapped him and Missy to produce the long-awaited project. Now, we have confirmation Missy nor Timbaland will participate in any part of Aaliyah’s upcoming album.
Missy’s long-time manager (and Executive Producer of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta) Mona Scott-Young released an official statement on Missy and Timbaland’s behalf. She states,
“Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate. We’ve seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”
Missy added the following to Mona’s statement:
“Tim and I carry Aaliyah with us everyday, like so many of the people who love her. She will always live in our hearts. We have nothing but love and respect for her memory and for her loved ones left behind still grieving her loss. They are always in our prayers.” SOURCE
As we reported the other day, Drake is executive producing the upcoming Aaliyah album. How that happened, we can only guess!
Do you think Drake will make a good Aaliyah album? Should Timbaland and Missy have been included in the project.
