As rumors swirled yesterday that Nicki Minaj was talking to American Idol producers about judging the long-running hit show, Mariah Carey was somewhere getting STEAMING MAD!!!
Reportedly the Pop Diva was promised a “Center Stage” type role on the reality singing show… so she balked at the notion her star role could be reduced to a SIDE SHOW ACT NEXT TO MUSIC’S BIGGEST STAR!!! Media outlets report that when Mariah was told by American Idol producers that Nicki Minaj MIGHT BE filling the 3rd (and last available) hosting slot…Mariah promptly hung the phone up!
Mariah’s debut on Idol should have been reminiscent of JLO’s 2 seasons ago…but somebody in the American Idol camp didn’t get the memo…and started talking to the younger (and arguably) more popular Nicki Minaj.
Mariah could walk if Nicki is added to the line-up. But that move is unlikely since (as TMZ wisely pointed out), American Idol ain’t putting 3 black faces at the AI judging table.
