These days it seems no one has an original idea! Not even a reality star who takes credit for launching Love And Hip Hop New York nor a celebrity stylist who works with some of the hottest talent out today. But hey, if you can borrow someone else’s idea and make some mula…DO YOU BOO!
Chrissy Lampkin and Emily B (best known for their roles on Love And Hip Hop New York) announced the launch of their clothing line called Cisum Couture! The line (as reported by The Jasmine Brand) will feature leather designs of men’s jackets. Exciting right?
Anyway, the launch for Cisum Couture was held last night somewhere in New York City. The private affair was attended by former LHHNY cast member Somaya Reece, (Chrissy’s mother-in-law to be) Nancy Jones, and other notables. The Jasmine Brand also reports Chrissy’s film crew was in the house filming scenes for Chrissy and fiance Jim Jones’ upcoming reality show “Chrissy And Mr. Jones.”
While a pair of minority women getting together for good is a good thing, we have to say we are disappointed Chrissy and Emily B resorted to borrowing someone elses fashion idea rather than innovating their own.
You see, Cisum Couture was launched 2 years ago by singer Talia Cole. Talia is an unsung songwriter/singer who has worked with Music Soulchild, Slim from 112, Coko from SWV, Teddy Riley and others. She had a buzz going a few years ago under the management of Jojo Sims (protegé of the respected and well-known Kevin Lyles) During a promotion interview in 2010, Talia revealed the fact that she owns a music label (Couture Music) and A CLOTHING LINE CALLED, “Cisum Couture.” WELL, WELL, WELL!!!
Talia explained “Cisum” is music spelled backwards. Makes sense since Talia is a recording artist right?
Anyway, fast forward 2+ years and you have Chrissy Lampkin and Emily B presenting Cisum Couture like they came up with the idea the other day. While Talia isn’t getting any credit yet for inventing the soon-to-be-released line…we hope she gets the credit she’s due for coming up with the name of the line and establishing the brand years before Emily and Chrissy became urban household names.
When you look at the pics from last night’s event, Talia is in quite a few. Her appearance in so many photos at first had us scratching our heads, but her presence makes more sense when you understand her true role in the company.

DO YOU THINK CHRISSY AND EMILY B SHOULD GIVE TALIA CREDIT FOR ESTABLISHING THE LINE AND COMING UP WITH THE NAME CISUM COUTURE?
