American Idol’s Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe says the beef between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj is REAL…and not staged for publicity and ratings. Lythgoe, who produces American Idol and is the creator of reality show So You Think You Can Dance, says Idol doesn’t need the DIVA FEUD for ratings or publicity. After all, (Nigel says) American Idol doesn’t debut for another 5 months. IF A.I WERE TO STAGE A PUBLICITY STUNT…THEY’D DO IT CLOSER TO THE SHOW’S DEBUT!
Peep Nigel’s statement below: (VIA TMZ)
“I have no idea why I would be doing it [for ratings] five months before the show went out.”
“I would only do ANYTHING for ratings a month before the show went out. They’ve (conspiracy theorists) got my timing wrong.”
You hear that folks? Only the stunts and gimmicks you observe within a month or two before the American Idol premiere (January/February 2013) is publicity related. Everything you’re seeing now is UNSCRIPTED and REAL!
Do you believe Nigel?
